New Generation Heat Exchanger: Extremely Thin-Walled, Complex Geometries, and Compact Design

PrintSky had a goal to create a thinly-walled heat exchanger that had complex geometries but kept it’s efficiency which is why they partnered with AddUp. By using the FormUp 350, AddUp was able to meet PrintSky’s goal and create a heat exchanger with overall improved performance. With AddUp’s FormUp 350 roller recoater and fine powder configuration, PrintSky was able to 3d print a heat exchanger with 0.5mm thin walls and 0.2mm external and 0.35mm internal fins and with impeccable surface finish. This newly optimized metal part used the least amount of material creating a compact design, realized better fluidic performance, and improved heat transfer.
