Functional Single-Pass Thin Wall Structures
Additive Manufacturing enables the production of thin-wall features finer than conventional methods, with 100-micron walls previously achieved via Laser Powder Bed Fusion. While many academic studies rely on simple coupons, most industrial applications use complex networks of thin walls within functional parts. This study bridges that gap by designing coupons that better reflect real-world use: arrays of single-pass walls within protective borders, resembling heat transfer structures. By evaluating accuracy, repeatability, spacing, orientation, and build angles, the work expands thin-wall data across a wider parameter set. The goal is to give designers greater confidence in applying thin walls for critical, complex applications in Laser Powder Bed Fusion.
