Ravelin Inc. and AddUp have entered a strategic partnership to scale metal additive manufacturing into serial production for mission-critical defense hardware. As part of the collaboration, Ravelin has selected AddUp’s FormUp 350 laser powder bed fusion system as the backbone of its serial production capabilities.
The partnership reflects a shared focus on industrializing additive manufacturing, prioritizing mission-ready reliability over mere prototyping. Ravelin selected the FormUp platform to drive uncompromising repeatability and industrial throughput. The decision was reinforced by a shared engineering ethos: a demand for rigorous process control and precise execution. This technical alliance is designed to support aggressive scale-up, ensuring Ravelin can match production velocity to increasing operational demands.

The FormUp 350 will be commissioned for Inconel 718, supporting the manufacture of high-stress components designed for extreme operational environments. The system will be installed near AddUp’s North American Solution Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, enabling tight-knit technical collaboration and rapid deployment support. This proximity ensures that as production scales, the unyielding standards required for defense manufacturing are strictly maintained.
“This partnership is built on a shared commitment to the mission. We are scaling into the serial production of critical defense hardware, and that demands a zero-fail mindset,” said Tim Bell, CTO, Ravelin Inc. “We selected AddUp because they bring the industrial rigor and consistency we require. They understand that we aren’t just manufacturing parts; we are delivering capability to the end-user. Their team has the mindset and the technology to keep pace with that intensity.”
“We’re excited to partner with Ravelin, an innovative company leveraging additive manufacturing to transform defense production,” said Nick Estock, CEO AddUp Inc. “Our AddUp Solution Center was built to help partners like Ravelin scale their technology for true industrialization. By combining our process expertise with Ravelin’s product knowledge and forward-thinking designs, we’re delivering a production-ready solution that sets a new benchmark for both industries.”
