AddUp, a subsidiary of Fives Group and a global leader in metal additive manufacturing, has announced a new partnership with OIC International (USA) and Medi Mold, part of Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ, India), to deliver advanced 3D printing capability for India’s first large-scale orthopedic implant production facility.

Building Industrial Capacity for Indian Healthcare

The new facility, located within AMTZ, India’s flagship medical device manufacturing park, will utilize AddUp’s industrial FormUp metal 3D printing technology as its backbone. The initiative directly supports India’s “Make in India” and medical self-reliance strategies, combining local infrastructure with global engineering expertise.

By enabling the production of geometrically complex, patient-specific orthopedic implants, AddUp’s technology will help lower manufacturing costs, reduce material waste, and accelerate time to market. These advantages will support both public healthcare initiatives and private hospital needs across India and international markets.

Why Additive? Why Now?

Traditional manufacturing has struggled to meet India’s growing demand for high-quality orthopedic solutions, especially when it comes to customization, speed, and cost control. Industrial additive manufacturing allows partners like OIC International and AMTZ to localize production and deliver advanced implants at scale, all while maintaining rigorous process control and quality standards.

Delivering Results, Not Promises

The partnership is built around operational execution. The first AddUp FormUp metal 3D printer will be installed at AMTZ to support rapid prototyping and full-scale production. This will allow for:

  • Mass production of patient-specific implants close to the point of care
  • High traceability and data control for regulatory submissions
  • Improved efficiency and flexibility for both public and private sector procurement

A Collaborative Approach

This initiative brings together international and local stakeholders, combining OIC’s market presence, Medi Mold/AMTZ’s manufacturing platform, and AddUp’s expertise in industrial 3D printing. The project has also been supported by Dr. Jitendra Sharma, CEO of AMTZ.
