CINCINNATI, OH – AddUp today unveiled its 2025-2026 Medical Advisory Board, an expert council composed of leading voices in medical device R&D, quality and regulatory compliance, and market access strategy. This renewed Board will guide AddUp’s strategy in the medical device industry, a key growth market, in developing safe, compliant, and breakthrough metal additive manufacturing (AM) real-world applications that improve patient outcomes and healthcare efficiency.
The 2025-2026 Medical Advisory Board consists of five distinguished professionals, each bringing deep domain knowledge and experience from across medical device product development, regulatory compliance, surgical innovation, and commercialization.

Andy Christensen – Thought Leader

Andy Christensen
Pioneer in Medical 3D Printing / Personalized Surgery Innovator / Maxillofacial and Orthopedic Applications / Academic & Commercial Advisor / Medical Device FocusWith extensive experience in personalized surgery and medical 3D printing, Andy joins the Board as a recognized pioneer. His experience with 3D printing started in the mid 1990s helping surgeons with challenging reconstructive surgeries. His company Medical Modeling was focused entirely on healthcare applications of 3D printing. His experience spans maxillofacial, orthopedic and spine applications with a focus on personalized surgery. Medical Modeling was also an early adopter of metal 3D printing and manufactured the very first FDA cleared orthopedic and spine 3D printed titanium implants. He sold his company to 3D Systems in 2014 which helped form their healthcare vertical. Following his departure from 3D Systems in 2015 he has focused his work on both academic endeavors and advising medical device companies, primarily focused around 3D Printing.

Among these numerous acquisitions his team drove and executed the initiative to successfully acquire and commercialize Johnson & Johnson’s first portfolio of 3D printed orthopedic implants. In addition to leading spine’s 3D/AM effort, he also brings broad and deep experience leading business units spanning knee, hip, trauma and spine surgical solutions. Additionally, he has also overseen med-tech growth initiatives in digital surgery, robotics and biologics.

Formerly Head of Johnson & Johnson’s 3D Printing Innovation group, he led the global integration of additive manufacturing across J&J’s businesses, driving advancements in materials, bioprinting, point-of-care solutions, and precision medicine. His cross-functional leadership connected R&D, regulatory, supply chain, and IT to accelerate innovation in 3D printing for healthcare, and he continues to collaborate with industry and clinical stakeholders to shape the future of medical manufacturing.

Jan Triani joined AddUp’s Medical Advisory Board in 2023, bringing over 20 years of experience in quality assurance and regulatory affairs for medical devices. She has worked with both global manufacturers and startups, and currently leads her own consulting practice, often serving as interim QA/RA Director. Jan has built two complete quality management systems, supported five FDA inspections, and authored more than 20 FDA submissions, including HDEs, 510(k)s, pre-submissions and expanded access for rare conditions. Jan has spent the last 7 years with a focus on additively manufactured patient specific devices.
