Traditional manufacturing can oftentimes pose some design and performance challenges. By using PBF, AddUp was able to improve the conformal cooling design by 20 °C and increase the life of the tool 6x longer than the previous traditionally manufactured extrusion die. Since PBF does not need any setup tooling, there is much more freedom with different quantities and differently shaped parts, perfect for specialty sizes and new extrusion dies without any additional investment.
