The Senior Engineering Manger plays a critical role within the development of the primary technologies of AddUp (Powder Bed Fusion (PBF) & Directed Energy Deposition (DED)) to grow the application depth of AddUp in the North American marketspace. This is accomplished through strategic planning and execution within the Engineering & Quality Team.
Responsibilities:
- Gain proficiency to become an AddUp Machines and Production Processes technical expert (programming, setup, operation)
- Mentor Applications team and customer base to utilize DFAM (Design for Additive Manufacturing) principles based on operating platforms within the company
- Develop strategies to create material recipes and parameter sets based on customer and market requirements
- Lead and grow the Engineering department for AddUp Inc. to support corporate goals and product management strategy
- Structure Design of Experiments to evaluate (and optimize) tradeoffs between various parameters of metals AM (PBF & DED) to achieve mechanical/material properties to develop a competitive offering for the market
- Creating technical process documentation to support quality system for the purpose of maintaining maintain an AS9100 registered Quality Management System
- Integrate the material development strategy within the shop from all aspects of analysis
- Support sales team from a technical point of view along with various trade show participation
- On-site customer/vendor application and development (as needed)
- Support the development of technical and marketing materials (white papers, case studies, pictures, videos, etc.)
- Interaction with external standards and technical organizations to create strategic partnerships
- Collaborate with the operations team to determine appropriate capital equipment investments to meet customer needs and maintain cost and cycle productivity targets
- Identify improvement in cycle time and cost both internal and external to increase throughput and performance of projects within the shop
Requirements:
- Minimum of 7 years of Additive Manufacturing machine experience, preferably in metals
- Minimum 5 years of leading a Technical Team
- S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Material or equivalent degree
- Minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience
- Demonstrated expertise in metals, material science and machining practices in relation to Additive Manufacturing
- Working knowledge in laser material processing, fiber laser a plus
- Design of experiments knowledge and experience
- Experience with the various types of parts finishing technologies available with additive to meet customer requirements
- Process development experience in an additive environment with metals
- Open currently to US Citizen or Green Card holders
Desired:
- Experience with formulating a strategy to create effective material and process data
- Prior experience with CAD Design Software (Example: Solidworks/NX)
- CAM/Slicing software experience (Example: Materialise, Magics, AddUp Manager)
- Working knowledge of the variables/variation that can significance within additive processing
- Direct customer exposure to develop additive business cases for parts and machines
- Previous experience working with global and distributed teams
